Introduction

Hello. Callistonian.net is my stomping ground on the Internet. Here, I post a potpourri of things - this place is a little random. I'm Chantelle: a 23 year old foreign language, law, and history obsessed girl.

Cecily von Ziegesar’s Gossip Girl #1
Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of privileged teens living in New York City’s Upper East Side. The vast majority of GG’s protagonists are spiteful and superficial: they are as deep as the ink on paper after a girl signs her name with a Montblanc fountain pen.

How would you feel if your school was flooded; if it caught on fire; if it was hit by a tornado? If any of the above happened to my beloved university, I’d be upset. However, my middle school endured all of the above. Was I upset then? Not in the least.

Every battle of school building versus nature/idiot- inspired- disaster equaled, at least, a few hours of freedom from school for me and as the building was never destroyed… I was happy.

On a slightly related note, I like storms. I’m not fond of tornados or hurricanes but, a strong thunderstorm (every once in awhile) is a lovely thing. The rain falls in torrents; the wind bends the trees; the power goes out. It’s a good bit of adventure. In residential areas, a few hours without electricity won’t hurt anyone. It’ll only inspire creativity and residents will get traditional with their sources of entertainment. Forget the television and break out a board game. Read a book. Write a letter by candlelight? Perhaps not the last one.

Storms are one of the good things about the southern region of the USA. The Northeast misses out.

Site-related: I’m still working on this design. I intend to change parts of it so… beware. :D

Yes, yes, yes! MN doesn’t have proper storms either. Japan just had a typhoon, but it seemed like a big thunderstorm to me. I loved it.

I like storms too, if I’m indoors. Once I was out running on streets in city after a mad argument with my friend and suddenly there was this huge flash and a BANG in front of me. Obviously, thunder. It shook all the cars parked on the road and the car alarms went off. It was hectic but from retrospect, a nice experience.

I noticed you changed the date thing beside the posts. I like it more this way. Have fun tweaking the bits and pieces. :)

There are times when I am off from work during an early morning thunderstorm. I use that time to relax w/ a cup of java, reading sites from the net. The sound of the rain throughout the house is soothing. Of course if I happen to be home during evenings I love to raise the blinds, watching the lightning flash across the sky.
I’m looking forward to seeing ur site up-dates.
Have a great Ms. C :-)

Ooh, I love a good storm. I like trying to take pictures of the lightning too, but I’m never fast enough. :(

Eeeeek storms scare me horribly! Actually, to be precise, it’s thunder that scares me. If it’s just lightning and heavy rain then I don’t mind it at all.

If my high school or uni endured any of that, i’d be heartbroken. I love uni so it makes sense. As much as I say i hate, hate my high school I still find that I say i’m a ‘ahs girl’ (it’s the school I went to) a lot… even when i’m not there anymore. It’s so odd.

I love storms too! And there’s plenty of good storms in the northeast - at least, in NE Pennsylvania and New Jersey. :P Whenever we would lose power, my dad would whip out the cards, Axis and Allies (the longest board game known to man), or Monopoly.

Winter storms are the best. Once my high school was closed for three weeks because of a massive ice storm. It was so pretty afterwards, everything was so pretty and white. The only bad part about it was losing power for that long - it’s COLD in January!

@Jem: Keep trying. You should get it eventually. I’d love to capture lightening in a photo - I’ve never tried before. Hmm… I have to think of a technique.

@Jenny: Oh~ I wasn’t thinking of Penn. It hardly ever storms in NYC or in CT.

3 weeks without school? Sounds fun but isn’t that dangerously long? In my district, they pack extra days into the school calendar just in case it snows. If they cancel school on more days than initially alloted for - they started taking away holidays and making the school day longer; they really just ruined the fun of it.
