3 Beloved Quotes
Three of my favorite quotes, randomly selected from an excel spreadsheet, are what follows. Share three (or one?) of your favorite quotes with me. ♥
Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. – Dale Carnegie
The earth laughs in flowers. – e. e. cummings
It is strange that words are inadequate. Yet like the astmatic struggling for breath so the lover must stuggle for words. – T. S. Eliot

Aww, I specially liked the second one. That’s a beautiful though.
I never seem to decided about which ones are my favorites quotes. Every time I’m asked I have to look around and decided what I like. Then I forget for the next time. Heh.
Your quotes sound so sophisticated. And I can’t really relate to them much probably because it’s not what’s going through my head often.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
“Neither should a ship rely on one small anchor nor should life rest on a single hope.”
“Be yourself, but be your best self.”
“Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.”
“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
Bit long really, eh? :P
I like the second quote, even if I think that quote sites should be banned.
Those are all great quotes. My favourite is the last one.
Life is something that everyone should try at least once. — Henry J. Tillman
You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something. Nowadays everybody’s crazy. –Charles Manson
Oh man, I love quotes!! That e.e. cummings one is lovely.
Here’s one of mine, of the inspirational genre:
“Ask yourself whether the dream of heaven and greatness should be waiting for us in our graves–or whether it should be ours here and now and on this earth.”
-Ayn Rand
My favourite is “Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everyone I’ve ever known.”
I just really think it expresses me the most, since I really do believe that everyone’s actions affect me, and that my actions affect everyone else.
I love quotes! I collect them because other people are just so much more eloquent and witty than me. Out of the ones you picked, I like the first one the most. Here are three I like (you’ve probably heard them before):
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.” –Henry David Thoreau
“If you always do what you’ve always done, then you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten. In order to get what you’ve never had, you’ve got to do what you’ve never done.”
“When we long for a life without difficulties, may we be reminded that oak trees grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.”
I like all of those, and I don’t want to try to pick a favourite.
Here are my three offerings:
“A day without laughter is a day wasted.” – Catullus
“Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans. It is lovely to be silly at the right moment.” – Horace
“But what a girl will swear to the man who loves her ought to be scribbled on water, scrawled on air.” – Catullus
As you can see, I have a fondness for old Roman poets.
It’s not exactly my favorite quote, but I’ve always loved this one from Love Actually:
“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.”
I want to play!
“There’s no such thing as old age, there is only sorrow.” -Edith Wharton
“Every sentence that I utter must be understood not as an affirmation, but as a question.” -Niels Bohr
“The thing that is incredible is life itself. Why should we be here in this sun-illuminated universe? Why should there be green earth under our feet?” -Edwin Markham
@Everyone: Thanks for the lovely quotes. :)
