My Rabbit Looks Like a Hamster + Paper Addiction

R— Even though I intend to cover the topic the title hints at in only one or two sentences, this entry’s title is not an attempt at a clever joke. My rabbit is tiny and, honestly, looks like a hamster. See? There’s more proof here and here.

[Image: Stationery Boxes]S— I love stationery. I really do. I’m addicted. I collect it. ♥ In exact terms, I don’t know how much I have. But I imagine that I have enough to write a letter everyday for the next few years. Some of my stationery is in the photo to the left, to the left … in the boxes to the left. More of my paper collection is kind of visible in this photo.

Unfortunately, with me, it doesn’t stop there. I have a general thing for paper. Because of my thing, my paper hording, I have an unreasonable amount of notebooks/blank books. I buy them with good intentions. I think that I’ll use them, that I’ll write in them, and then, I don’t. One of the journals I bought in August or July of 2006 is still wrapped in cellophane. I don’t know when I’ll get to it—I have lovely blank books from before the cellophane-wrapped one that I’ve yet to complete/begin so… I’ll see. Hopefully, I’ll start writing in these books for, at least, 10 minutes everyday. I’m trying to make some progress. Also, I’ve banned myself from buying more until I complete one that I already have. But the ban will be lifted and exceptions will be made for beautiful blank books with small lines. However, I haven’t made any exceptions in months. Go me!

The second part of this entry was inspired by Rachael who recently blogged about her notebook addiction.

C— In other news, this layout is still—I know—incomplete. I’m trying to think of creative ways to fix the footer. I’m also working on content for callistonian.net. So far, I’ve been focusing most of my attention on improving Colophon+ and on creating a daily photo blog.

1. Cute rabbit! I love it’s fluffy cute little face!! Love the lighting.

2. I like paper too. And fabric. If I had more money I’d love to hoard beautiful samples of both.

3. I don’t see what’s wrong with this layout, it looks really nice.

Backstory (I swear I have a point I’m getting to with this!): My boyfriend & I have been at each other’s throats for days now over his desire to move from lush and comfortable southern Maryland (DC metro) to the boonies of Virginia (DC metro only accessible by car). I told him that I generally refuse to even consider the boonies of Virginia, regardless of whether they let us have pets or not (our current lease doesn’t, places in Virginia do).

This post (specifically, your bunny) changed our lives. You should be proud.

I WANT A BUNNY EXACTLY LIKE THAT. Like, RIGHT NOW. IMMEDIATELY. I’ll even MOVE TO VIRGINIA FOR IT. Hell, I’ll move to KENTUCKY for it.

I think my boyfriend loves you.

It’s a special breed, right? What kind is it? Why is my birthday millions of days away?! :(((((

Some of that stationary really is gorgeous.
I have quite a lot of it too, only I’m too afraid to use it when writing letters or whatever. I’d feel like I was wasting it even if the letter was being sent to the queen!

I’m weird like that.

Your stationery collection is beautiful for what I can see :D I used to collect all kinds of stationery, but I gave most of it away when I moved. I collect notebooks though. By the way, I received your letter :3 May I write you back?

Judging by my… billions of notebooks, many in storage (along with some of my 200 handbags- I have an addictive personality), and 4 overflowing baskets of pens, pencils and other writing utensils, and OH MY- Post-its (my friends buy me new ones for my birthday each year, because they know I love them, but I almost never use them all!), I too have a stationery addiction. To the point where, one time, I was in Vancouver with my ex-roomies, and they refused, point-blank, to allow me inside the amazing stationery shop! I was so sad! Luckily, I’d been there before, and I knew I would make it back eventually, so I didn’t fret too much!!

Alex, after your back story … I hate to say this but the bunny is just a baby. I think Hammi-chan will develop proper ears and proper rabbit features after growing up a bit. She’ll still be cute though.

Lene, I’m glad you got it. Feel free to write back. If I didn’t want you to, I wouldn’t have put my address on it. ;)

Aisling, if you want to cut back, here’s the solution: get snobby. I’m really particular about my pens and pencils so instead of baskets, I have a few. They’re not expensive but they’re all unique (I bought them from special stores or ordered them online). They’re all .3 mm or .18 mm (.5 is for losers!). I try to do the same thing with my stationery/notebooks and only buy really pretty, designer, letterpress, or foreign stuff. But I still have a lot of that so… in that case my policy doesn’t fix the problem.

Fat lines for the win! The fatter the better. I have massive handwriting, and because I average about four words a line, I really do need big lines.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one with a notebook addiction.

I think stationary is great to look at, I’ve never made a habit of collecting anything, however. I collect pin up girl cards and posters. Ohhhhh….I wonder if they have any pin up girl stationary!?

Maybe your rabbit is actually a hamster in disguise. He really does look like a hamster!

I think stationary can look great, but that doesn’t make me buy it :P Why did you not keep the cutest journal? I like it a lot more than the other ones.

Kaylee, I don’t just buy stationery for the heck of it or just because it’s pretty (even though sometimes it seems that way). I use it (just not at a rate that makes my collection go down). :P Also, I did not keep the cutest journal because it has fat lines. Unlike Rachael, I have handwriting that requires a magnifying glass. I hate fat lines. I already have cute journals… :D It’s okay if all of my journals aren’t cute, right? 100% cute = cute-overload.

I need someone to write.

I really like the study buddy. :D And the vocab journal. Very very pretty.

I used to collect stationery when I was in elementary school. I never used them. I lost all of them when we moved. :(

Hehe, at first I thought your title meant that your rabbit is obsessed with stationery =P

I used to have a rabbit, when I was in middle school, he lived at my grandma’s place, ’cause mom actively refused (and still) does to let any animals live there. Anyway, it was black and cute and fuzzy when we brought it … and half a year later, when we had it sent back (we didn’t buy it, got it from one of my grandma’s friends) it was at least 3 times its initial size …. I might have been feeding it too much.

Ohmygosh, your rabbit is ADORABLE. I want one now!

I like looking at stationery, but I don’t buy it because I know I’ll never use it. I used to purchase pretty notebooks back when I kept paper journals, but I don’t really anymore… so I have no use for them. I do, however, have more pens and pencils than I know what to do with.

I think I probably might be addicted to stationery, or rather notebooks. I have so many. There’s something inspiring about a fresh notebook, makes me feel like I can write a novel. But after a few lines of nothing I get bored… and I feel like I can no longer use the notebook.

I also have a lot of cute stationery that I never feel I can use for whatever reason.

Aww, I want a bunny… but ever since a bad experience with one bunny at a pet store when I was little, I don’t think I could ever have one. I’m sure all bunnies hate me.
