Introduction

Hello. Callistonian.net is my stomping ground on the Internet. Here, I post a potpourri of things - this place is a little random. I'm Chantelle: a 23 year old foreign language, law, and history obsessed girl.

Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of privileged teens living in New York City’s Upper East Side. The vast majority of GG’s protagonists are spiteful and superficial: they are as deep as the ink on paper after a girl signs her name with a Montblanc fountain pen.

How do you procrastinate? What do you do when bored? I, apparently, write down paradoxes.

Why is it so girly? Am I a girly girl? Perhaps—anyway, some tend to associate math with boys. I’m not a boy. I wanted to make that clear in case anyone decided to lift this image from my blog… ♥

I was waiting for you to tell me how 2=1. I love the stationery by the way.

However… If heart= 1 then you divided by zero twice up there, and heart square is not necessarily 1, heart square is plus/minus 1.

Meh. I’m not convinced!

I want to put this up on my wall. :D

[…] This just made my day. It’s like that geeky t-shirt that says “2+2=5, for large enough values of 2″. Only this had hearts and pink stationary. […]

I procrastinate by writing down a list of what I should be doing, but are too lazy to do. Once that gets boring, I watch youtube videos. :)

@Lene: You aren’t being fun. :P Heart^2 is necessarily 1. If I took the square root of heart^2 then you’d have the negative/positive thing, but I didn’t take any square roots. If 1^2 = 1, then everything I did was legal and perfectly acceptable mathematically, yep. :P

Nooo it can’t be! :P

I’ll proof that wrong, you’ll see, someday XD

lol

I am printing this out and showing it to my dippy Algebra teacher.

As most of the maths largely went over my head (four and a half years sans mathematics tends to do that to a person…), I just wanted to say: That is such cute stationary! It looks like something I would pick up in Morning Glory, though without the bad English translation. :P

Lol it’s because you can’t divide by <3 - 1 because 1 - 1 = 0. Undefined!

you… eh.. what?! That was confusing.

Hm, but why did you divide by <3-1? on the equation above it’s <3^2-1. Am I missing something?

@Myra: XD Let me know if your teacher has any insight on the issue.

@Rilla: I can divide by anything I want. :P It’s not my fault if the math breaks down.

@Kat: I divide by ♥-1 because that break the equation. :) ♥^2-1 is a difference of squares…

I think that’s so adorable! I’m doing something like that in math (patterning with tables?) Yesh, grade eight math is so fun /sarcasm! Haha, I would much prefer you as my math teacher. I like the way you explain things with hearts and all :).

Hm… But… It was (<3-1)(<3+1) = <3^2-1, then when you divided it by <3-1 it became (<3-1)(<3+1) =<3-1

I’m definitely missing something :-P

@Kat: Ahh… I see what you mean, now. Originally, It was ♥^2 - 1 = ♥ - 1. (♥ - 1)(♥ + 1) is another way of writing ♥^2 - 1. So I replaced ♥^2 - 1 on the left side with (♥ - 1)(♥ + 1). That’s how I got (♥ - 1)(♥ + 1) = ♥ - 1.

@Yara: Thank you—unfortunately, normally I don’t explain things with hearts.

aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh…. I see it now, nice ;)

Haha, that’s so clever. And I can’t believe I actually followed the math! Wow, am I retaining information from eons ago? And math, too!

It’s so cute, I only wish I was smart and clever enough to disprove “indisputable” truths.

By about the 3rd line, I was lost. As you know, I get lost in the world of math. Also, I do not want to think about it, because you know what? I just got a 61.7% on my triangle math test. :(

I can’t believe I actually got that.

Oh my, I absolutely LOVE that!!! I wish the guy I have liked for quite a while would finally notice… lol.

I got lost… and had to start over from the beginning. But I got it eventually, it’s clever!

I love the stationary. Very cute indeed! LOL! Interesting proof. :)
