Rambling About 2 AM Phone Calls
Have you ever had a moment in which you discover something, then think, “I must tell (someone specific) about this right now!”? I did at about 2:30 am yesterday. Did I let the time faze me? Absolutely not. I called my friend’s cell immediately.
Did she answer? Of course, she did. What’d she say? “OMG WTF!?!? It’s 2:30 am?” Nope… She said, “I’m on the bus. Call me back in 30 minutes.”1 XD
When is it unacceptable to call you? I have a slight problem with 8 am phone calls. If I’m awake at that horrible time, I’m busy.
After an hour long phone call and some fiddling around, I went up to bed… because staying up all night for no reason isn’t particularly good for your health. While I was falling asleep, something shook. The house? The boat outside? My bed? Everything?—I don’t know exactly, but I reacted with, “Was that an earthquake?!? *blink* No way? I hear an airplane, maybe it was an airplane… Maybe that was thunder? It’s starting to storm again?” My intuition, my initial reaction, was correct (woo!) : it was an earthquake, my first one. We rarely (i.e. never) have earthquakes here.
Random: Ring tones annoy some, but today one made my day! I was in the mall—I went to get those shoes, but they weren’t there—A classy lady with the cutest baby had Wonder Girls’ Tell Me as her ring tone! Tell Me! Tell Me! T-t-t-Tell Me! Like 99.999999999… percent of the people in my city, you’ve probably never heard of it before. :( It’s not an English song… So when the lady’s cell sung, “T-t-t-t-tell me!”, I paused in shock. It was a miracle! XD If you believe in rounding, in my city the chance of encountering someone with that song as a ring tone is 0%.
If there’s anything you’d like me to blog about, comment with the suggestion. Thanks! ♥
1It wasn’t 2:30 am her time. She lives on the other side of the planet, 13 or thereabouts hours in the future.

Oh, thank God your friend wasn’t on the bus at 2am. I was about to ask if you only befriended nocturnal types like yourself!! :P
@Aisling: What’s wrong with being on the bus at 2AM? :P I’ve been on the subway with friends at 3…
I don’t mind phone calls at whatever time, if it’s at an unusual time (e.g. late at night/early in the morning) it’s most likely something important anyway.
Haha I do the 2:30am calling people all the time. Or if I know they have to be up early the next day I text instead. Or send an email. There are a lot of emails in my sentbox that consist of me saying “omg blah blah and blah happened” and then carrying on the conversation with myself as if the person was there. :p But yeah I can’t live without my phone, it’s always under my pillow when I sleep so I don’t mind calls at stupid hours because they are probably important.
Good job on feeling the earthquake. There was supposedly one here in February but I didn’t feel it so I decided that the news reports were blatant lies.
Late phone calls are fine by me because I’m virtually nocturnal, but early ones really, really, REALLY piss me off. Especially if it’s not for me when I’m alone in the house, meaning I would’ve been woken up and gotten up to answer the phone, only to discover it was all for nothing. It’s really annoying how I always think of something i just HAVE TO tell someone really really late at night (when I’m most awake) and it’s too rude to ring. Thank god for txt messages in times like those though!
And, OT, but how do you do those footnote thingys? I’ve installed a WP plugin for it but I dont know how to insert the little number thingy (can never remember the term for them)…?
Hrmm.. I’m not one of those people with a cell attached to her hip, you know? So if someone calls me at an ungodly hour it’s usually on vibrate in another room, and it just goes to voicemail. As a result, I have more missed calls on my phone than sent and received combined :D We get earth-quakes fairly regularly in California… the worst one was in 1994, I was barely old enough to remember it, but it nearly destroyed the Valley area of Los Angeles.. it must’ve been quite a shock to you!!
Um… pretty much any time I’m asleep. But about two years ago a friend decided to text me at one a.m., because he was depressed. I grumbled and cursed and hoped my parents wouldn;t be woken up (beats me why I didn’t set it to silent)… but answered anyway. Turned out, it did him real good, so I was glad in the end. I still hate to be woken up by others =P
I was about to ask what your friend did on a bus at 2am as well, LOL.
lol I’m glad it wasn’t 2:30 AM her time… I was wondering why she was on the bus that late ( -> or early.. lol). Yeah I think it would be unacceptable if someone called me in the middle of the night but on the other hand sometimes I wake up during the night and remember I wanted to tell (insert name here) something and I send them a text message, wait for like 20 minutes before I realise they will never send me a reply and fall asleep. The next day I either get called or receive a text message in which they ask why the hell I sent them a text message in the middle of the night. XD
Wow an earthquake? Cool, we never get them here. I’d probably be scared though. Last year there was this lightning which struck 3 trees near my house and everything was shaking, I was scared to death. I literally couldn’t move for the next 5 minutes after that.
I don’t think I’d be happy to get a phone call in the middle of the night unless it was (a) important or (b) good :P
I get happy when I hear a ring tone for a not-very-popular song I love :3
Just as long as I’m awake, it’s okay to call me. Unless I’m at a meeting with my boss, that would piss him off.
But I, admittedly, have experienced calling someone at 3:00am. They were pissed.
I constantly experience this… lol. And, nope not a boyf. Haha..
The latest I’ve ever had a phone call is 4 am… =_= sucked coz I only ended up getting about 3 or so hours of sleep~
And, for me it’s probably acceptable to call me anytime, lol. I usually fall asleep after the phone call if I don’t feel like awaking yet. Haha. :P But nobody’s called me at that time so yeah…
I don’t like to call people after 8.30 pm for some reason..
