Japan, Volunteering, & Keyboards
Three slightly random tidbits from the last 60,840 minutes of my life (i.e. what’s been going on since I last blogged).
JAPAN—I’ll spend a few humid days during July and August in Japan. My tentative list of things to do is quite schizophrenic (because I’m going with friends and our personalities are different). So far, must-dos include visiting Tokyo Disneyland, the notorious Yasukuni Shrine, and an aquarium. Mountain climbing is also under serious consideration. If you have any suggestions let me know.
VOLUNTEER—Maybe I’m a little psychotic, but I haven’t done any noteworthy extracurricular or volunteer activities for a few months now. I haven’t been bored, but me not volunteering (or participating in some kind of crazy thing like sacrificing my fingers and learning to play an instrument no one has ever heard of) is like a caffeine addict going for weeks without coffee or soda. It’s unsustainable and enough to make me crazy. So, I’m ecstatic that an opportunity has finally presented itself—it involves teaching English, which is definitely kind of bleh and run-of-the-mill, but it has potential. I’m skeptical about the whole thing working out, though, because I’ve had things fall through before.
RANDOM OBSERVATION—Keyboards. I realized something. I don’t know where the keys on my keyboard are. My fingers know, but on paper I cannot draw a keyboard with correctly placed keys. Is this strange or just a by-product of never looking at the keys while typing?

OK, where’s the memo? I swear everyone seems to be going to Japan these days, first Rilla then Macca, now you… and maybe Jacky too. I’m so incredibly envious right now.
Oh do tell about that. I was thinking about volunteering too… but then I got so lazy -.-;;
Oh I’m the same way about the keyboard, and I tend to look at it while typing too. :P I guess I don’t really “see” it, after all. Heh.
When I go home, I’m going to try writing the keys out on a piece of paper now, just to see how many I can get. :D
Wow, Japan! :D It sounds like it can be so much fun. Remember to take lots of pictures! I hope everything goes well with this volunteering opportunity and that it turns out to be a fulfilling experience. About the keyboard, you are so right, I’ve tried drawing a keyboard in the past and I hardly know where to place the keys. I think I’m going to try it again and see how far I can get. So far I known I can correctly place the keys q, w, e, r, t, y and the space bar. Awesome, no?
I’m only aware of QWERTY, that’s it [not counting, of course, numbers and space bar :P]! FAIL.
I’ve never really noticed that, but I’m the same way with keyboards. I probably could if you gave me an hour, but off the top of my head, I would not be able to draw it very quickly.
Japan sounds so exciting, I’d like to go there one day!
Woo, Japan! I wish I could tell you some spots, but I barely know any. I know on youtube there’s a guy called TokyoCooney who shows a lot of places to visit in Japan, so you could check him out. I wish I could go to Japan.
I like volunteering, but I never really have the chance to do it. Where are you going to teach English? I think I could do well picking out the keys on my keyboard…maybe. o_O
Japaaaaaaan! Ah, I’m so envious! I would love to go there and eat nothing but sushi. :D
I hope you enjoyed your trip to Japan. I love Tokyo Disneyland! :D
Wow Japan. I’d love to visit Tokyo Disneyland one day. I’ve never been to ANY Disneyland, yet.
